Understanding the Power of the “I AM”

In this tumultuous era of chaos, strife and enslavement, Master Saint Germain has empowered mankind with a very powerful decree that will enable us to liberate ourselves from the deterrents of the outer world.  It is a statement in the English language that corresponds to the powerful mantras used by our Oriental brethren and practiced by our ancestors well-versed in the esoteric arts.

Through the I AM Movement that Master Saint Germain initiated in the 1930s, he re-introduced a magical tool that had been temporarily forgotten by modern man in this Age of Advanced Science and Technology.

Indeed, decreeing the “I AM” as a means to affirm our divine governance over this physical reality is one way of clearing the obstacles in our Soul’s path. Fellow workers of the Light, I invite you to open your minds with questions that will delve deeper into the concept of this potent edict.

Whenever we decree our I AM Statements, what do we picture in our mind? Do we visualize that state which represents our intentions? Or perhaps, do we try to bring ourselves to that feeling, that sentience of being, doing, or having that which we desire?

This is essential for the use of our creative faculties, our thoughts and feelings, are necessary for the Ritual of Manifestation. Yet, have we asked ourselves, why begin these decrees with the phrase, I AM?

Review of Literature

Let us try to look into the different contexts related to the I AM phrase. This review of literature seeks to find the unifying essence within these various interpretations; May I implore everyone not to be confined to a certain social or theophilosophical concept, but to grasp the mutual relationship among these beliefs.

Some of you might be aware that the phrase I AM is a contraction of the statement, “I AM that I AM, derived from the answer of God to Moses when asked about his name. Some theologians believed that  I AM is considered one of the many names of God, while others maintain that it is more of a description of His very nature. The Uncreated Creator independent of a concept, source or entity, hence the translation,” I AM who I AM.” 1

The Ancient Hebrew language from which the statement was originally disseminated is, Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh. What is interesting about the Ancient Hebrew Language is that it does not have a past, present or future tense. Actions are viewed according to their status of completion and not with relation to time. The word Ehyeh is a first person singular term and has an imperfect tense, which in turn denotes something that has been completed, might be completed or will be completed in the indefinite future.  This is therefore understood as God saying that he is in the process of being God, which reveals its self-sustaining Aspect. 2

The Kabbalists have long believed that the Torah (Old Testament) is a rich source of Esoteric Knowledge. Some considered that the response given to Moses means, “I Am My name” which suggests that the power of God may actually be in His very Name.3

Om Tat Sat which is a Sanskrit Mantra is also related to the I AM. Om refers to the Supreme Infinite Spirit, Tat refers to that, or all that is, and Sat points out to the Formless, non-dualistic existence.  This statement has always been the basic Mantra both in Hindu and Buddhist practice and precedes any announcement, affirmation or intention of manifestation.4

This concept is very similar to the assumptions made by our modern quantum theorists. The German quantum physicist and mystic, Michael König (b. 1957) published in 2010 the book, “Das Urwort (The Physics of God).” In the book, he made the Firstword-theory. Our universe is an idea of God. All began with the wish of God that a cosmos with thinking beings should be there. He spoke a mantra (ELI) and the multiverse was started. Consciousness is the center of the universe from which everything is developing.5

Similarly, Helena P. Blavatsky of the Theosophical Society, in her book, The Secret Doctrine, referred to the Cosmos as “the Son”, having for his father, the Divine Thought and for his mother, Matter.6

She further explains that “everything lives and is conscious, but not all life and consciousness are similar to those of human or animal beings. We look upon life as “the one form of existence” manifesting in what is called matter; Matter is the vehicle for manifestation of soul on this plane of existence, and soul is the vehicle on a higher plane for the manifestation of spirit, and these three are a trinity synthesized by Life, which pervades them all.”7

The I AM as a Powerful tool for Lightbearers

As a student of the Occult Path in service to the Great Brotherhood of Light, it is crucial not to overlook the countless benefits of the I AM decrees as we apply them to everyday life.

When we declare our I Am statements, we also invoke the Father aspect; We make use of that Divine essence bridged by the soul and into physical reality- that power to create- now being qualified and colored by our specific intentions.

Directed by thought and energized by our emotions (our astral energy), it pierces through the Mother aspect- which is undifferentiated substance. As it penetrates the unformed matter, that vast ocean of potential, the intention starts to germinate; it starts to evolve. When it reaches full maturity in the womb of Female Godhead, she then gives birth to it into physical form.

Through one of His Discourses, Master Serapis Bey was kind enough to impart a very effective prayer for us to utilize, to further recognize the power of the Mother aspect and the vital role she assumes in the process of Manifestation. Just as a woman’s fertility is crucial for impregnation, whenever we do the act of seeding through the decree of the I AM, we also ask for the Blessings of Isis, with a simple prayer,

“I invoke thee, Mother Isis. Take me out of my material form and raise me in frequency to your Divine Essence. Help me to give birth to this thing that I have created.”

By saying this prayer, you ask the Mother substance to be receptive to your Creative thought, a trait of your Will (the Father Aspect), for the whole process of Manifestation to take place, from germination to full maturity, and birth to our outer world.

Conclusively, every time we state the I AM preceding our noblest desires, we should be fully aware that we are generating the process of Creation all over again, specific to that thing which we willed to manifest.

We utilize our inheritance from the Father, and gain access to the richness of the Mother to bring forth a physical reality that shall and must serve our Divine Purpose.
